In the past when we had a computer problem we would take it to a service shop and they would usually wipe the disk and install a replacement operating system and leave us to restore all our favorite apps and files on our own.

In December 2020, my wife’s laptop crashed during a Windows 10 update and I was unable to fix it with the things I knew to do.
